Campbell Pirihi son of Paraire(jnr) and Alisha Pirihi and grandson of Paraire snr and Heidi Pirihi has captained the Metropolitan West U12 side to become the undefeated champions at the Queensland State Primary Schools Carnival, held at the Redcliffe Dolphins luxurious oval.

The carnival started on 23rd June and ended on 30th June 2010 with 10 teams in total from all over Queensland. The final being between Metropolitan West and Peninsula U12 side with the score being 24 – 6 to Metropolitan West.

Campbell Pirihi played such an outstanding carnival that he was picked as the Captain of the Queensland U12 Probable’s side and won the game 8 – 4. Campbell also received a trophy for Player of the Team as well as Man of the Match for two games.

From the two Probable’s and Possible games that were played, two teams were chosen to represent Queensland at the National U12s Carnival to be held in Adelaide of the 7th August, running until 14th August.

Campbell was named in the Premier side in a team of 17 players. These 17 are now known as Queensland’s best Under 12 Players for 2010, which is a huge accomplishment, considering there are tens of thousands of eligible players in Queensland alone.

Before the National Carnival, Campbell along with his other team members will be in camp in the beautiful town of Townsville at the North Queensland Cowboys, Dairy Farmers Stadium from 25 July to the 5th August, in which they will have skills training, team bonding and of course, attending school at one of the hosts schools. The team will also be playing against an invitational U13 side during their stay in Townsville. Another great thrill for the team will be the presentation of their playing uniform which will be handed to them by one of today’s all time greatest players, Jonathan Thurston, a staunch Queensland Maroon and current Australian Representative Player.

This is a mammoth opportunity for Campbell Pirihi as the National Carnival selects a tournament side for the Australian National Schoolboys U12 team. With great pride, we wish Campbell Pirihi all the best for the carnival and no doubt his name will be one to watch out for in the near future.
